At Pen Underwriting, we understand that making an insurance claim often comes at a time of stress or adversity. Whether the loss is minor or significant, our goal is to ensure that every claim is handled with understanding, fairness, and without unnecessary delay.

Our claims team is committed to always acting professionally and courteously, providing prompt, efficient, and transparent service and supporting both policyholders and brokers with empathy and respect.

How to make a claim

Policyholders are advised to contact their insurance broker and provide full details of the claim. This will include:

  • Policy number
  • Registration number, if the claim is motor-related
  • Incident details, including the date, time, location, driver, etc.
  • Circumstances of the incident or loss
  • Supporting documents e.g., photos, receipts/estimates, Garda reports, if applicable.

These details will be shared with the Pen Underwriting claims team and the claim process will commence.

Windscreen claims

In the event of windscreen damage, and subject to adequate policy cover, contact our approved repairer Autoglass Ireland directly to arrange an appointment.

Claims appeals process

We have established a formal claims appeal process for the benefit of our policyholders.

  • Policyholders that are dissatisfied with the outcome of their claim can submit an appeal.
  • Any appeals should be emailed to the dedicated claims handler, indicating the intention to appeal the claim.
  • All appeals will be reviewed by a manager who was not involved in the original claim decision.
  • A response will be provided within an appropriate timeframe.
